Before the meeting, the guild went to the weaving studio at Kent State for workshops. Diachbha taught netting then demonstrated weaving on a computerized draw loom. Guild members had the opportunity to try the loom for themselves.
Ceinwyn brought largesse for any takers--yarn and fleece from Emma the sheep.
Ellencwen is holding a spinning marathon on January 31st from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm at her house in Clinton. Stop by for all or part of the day to help spin up the fleece of Rameesh.
A member shared a flyer for the "Mid-Ohio Fiber Gathering" on Saturday, April 24th in De Graf, Ohio.
Check out the sheep cross-stitch pattern in "Just Cross-Stitch" magazine.
Next week is the Medina Spinners' Guild's "Fiber Relocation" event.
A new book on cutwork by Mary Monica Pulver (AKA Monica Ferris) is out.
Nancy Spies has published a new book, "Anna Neuper's Modelbuch: Early Sixteenth-Century Patterns for Weaving Brocaded Bands." The original patterns were written in 1517 by a seventy-year old nun in Nurnberg.
| "Bright Earth," a book about colors by Philip Ball, includes lots of information about textile colors during the Middle Ages.
