Member Reports
Ellencwen For the guild project, spun the orange fiber and is spinning the pink.  Spun black wool from Emma the Horned Dorset.   Sheared two sheep and a rabbit.  Rewarped the project on the big loom, which is in the barn, to include floating selvedges.  The warp and weft were spun from "Brady Lake Mystery Wool," using a long draw, so they are somewhat weak.  Knitting socks from variegated sock yarn (designed to create a pattern when used with the right-sized needles).   Knitted one more repeat on the grey angora scarf.
Ceinwyn Carded the Tunis fleece for the guild project.  Wove a tiny wool basket and made a bitty drop spindle, nostepinde, and niddy-noddy for a miniature fiber arts display. Charted the guild tartan and brought copies to the meeting for everyone.   Branwyn will scan it and post the image on the website (ed. -- scanned image was not legible).  Also designed guild-related cross-stitch patterns, which she will send to Branwyn
Demelza Working on a needle lace project.   With waxed linen thread, sewing a tiny basket around a cork form.
Emma Taught beginning bobbin lace at the Arts and Sciences event in Gwyntarian.
Branwyn Demonstrated spinning and carding at a demo for several brownie troops, held in the Cleveland Metroparks.  Cleaned and polished the LeClerc loom (it had been in storage for a couple of years).  Did some carding.   Wove one belt (weft-faced,  wool weft, perle cotton warp);  working on a second belt.
Miscellania

The group discussed the Midrealm Belt Challenge.   The object is to weave belts to present to Pieter Van Dorn and Nan Astrid at their Coronation in May.   Guild members know Pieter from when he lived in Cleftlands.
Ellencwen is going to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival;  would anyone like her to do shopping for them?
Emma, Branwyn, and Ellencwen went on a field trip to the Cuyahoga Weaver's Guild exhibit in Cleveland.   It was well-worth the trip--there were many beautiful pieces.
Sheephaven is full of sheep--the boarding sheep had triplets (3 males), and April is expecting her first lamb soon.
On Mother's Day weekend (Thursday-Friday, 9-4), Ohio Knitting Mills is holding their final yarn sale.  The mill is located at E.61st, near the Pierre's Ice Cream plant.  They accept credit card or cash.  At the previous sale, Ellencwen bought wool for warp and beautiful rayon that looks like tussah silk.
