Photos from the July 2003 Dye Day:
Dyers greenwood and indigo (green), indigo (blue), dyers' greenwood (yellow). After yarn is submerged in the indigo dyebath, it has to be exposed to the air for the color to develop.
The dyebath of dyers' greenwood. Diachbha and a guest at the indigo vat.
Dyeing paper towels in water; the children later added mud to the dyebath.  A basket of fleece.
Hanging the dyed paper towels to dry. Indigo on wool.
The red yarn on the left is dyed with madder.   The guild agreed that this was the best result they had gotten in years.   The dyebath used powdered madder (instead of chips); did this make the difference?.
